Please share a memory of Venessa to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Venessa Bernice Lush, age 79, of Fort McMurray, Alberta.

Venessa passed away suddenly at the Grey Nuns Community Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta on April 14th, 2024.

Leaving to mourn with fond and loving memories are: daughters Nadene (Jim) Baird, Luanne (Tony) Lush-Husain; brother, Chesley (Christine) Davis, sisters, Dorothy (Frank) Saunders and Maxine (Emor) King, Grandchildren Matthew (Dominique) Lush, Shane (Jessica) Lush, Adam Lush, Michaela (Kyle) Raw, Maddison (Antonio) Lush; Great-Grandchildren Hannah, Kerrigan, Brooklyn, Gemma, Quinn, Millie, Hudson and Cooper; Brother-in-Laws Tom (Lilly) Lush, Terry (Marie) Lush, Peter (Jean) Lush, Lawrence (Josie) Lush.

Venessa was predeceased by her husband Harold, son Michael (Jamie); her parents Edith & Chesley Davis; Brothers August, Vernon, Glenn; Parent-in-Laws Clara & Gordon Lush; Brother-in-law James King, Sister-in-Laws Sadie Proulx, and Verna Lush and Nephew David Lush.

Venessa was born in Glovertown, NL, to parents Edith & Chesley on September 15th, 1944.

Venessa moved to Fort McMurray with her husband and young family in 1976.  Soon after arriving in Fort McMurray, she started working at Harry’s Food Market until the store closed its doors in 1996.  Venessa was the heart of her home and family. She was a role model for many.  She led her life selflessly by always helping others and working tirelessly, yet always had time to give someone encouragement to overcome any challenge they may be facing.

She was a devoted mother who raised three children, Nadene, Luanne, and Michael. Venessa was married for 60 years to her soulmate, Harold, who preceded her in death.  Her world revolved around her grandchildren & great grandchildren, and she played an important role in their upbringing.  Her kind heart always had love to give.  She truly valued her family, friends, and community.  She never judged, only helped, and guided never expecting anything in return and never wanting attention to herself.

Venessa’s kindness and love left an impact on everyone who met her.  She will be missed immensely but never forgotten.

Her family wish to thank the Grey Nuns Hospital Medical Staff and the Home Care staff in Fort McMurray and Beaumont for their care and support.

In lieu of flowers, the family request that donations be made to the Salvation Army Church, 125 Elmore Drive, Fort McMurray, AB in Venessa’s memory.
